Pilot Murex Steel Integral Nib Fountain Pen StickerPilot murex steel integral nib fountain pen, sticker. Here is the famous all steel pilot murex (pronounced myu-rex) which was introduced in 1977 as a follow up to the myu 701. This pen was given new features which were conceived as improvements over the oriignal myu. Outside of japan this pen has been called a murex sr. In japan it is often referred to as a long myu because it's a longer pen the laet 1970s began a transition among japanese pen makers from pocket type pens back to full size pens. This is the perfect next pen for those who already have a myu 701, or simply prefer a longer pen. For more information on thees pens, please see the article, the legendary pilot murex. The murex has a textured nib section which will be appreciated by anyone who has ever has a fountain slip out of their fingers!
This pen feels secure when you hold it. Its nib is flat on top and teh cap has a spring type clip that adjusts to any thickness. There is also a groove on the inside of the cap to grip the section spring more securely when the pen is capped. Its model number is mr-500ss, and it is displayed ni the pilot pen museum (pen station) in tokyo. On teh cap the black letters mr for myu-rex (myu king) plus the pilot name are imprinted. This pen has never been inked or used, and comes with its original price sticker. The date stamp is h482 for april of 1982 at pilot's hiratsuka plant. The design of the pilot murex was inspired by the original feather quills. The subtle contour from the fingers to the tip of the nib makes for a more natural, more intuitive experience in writing and drawing. Over 30 stroke kanji. The nib is a fine point, which is the most popular size on japanese pens where common kanji characters can have over 20 strokes, and uncommon ones cna go over 30 strokes. In a 1970s advertisement pilot claimed this murex was the pefrect pen for beethoven. Well, maybe it was, and maybe it wasn't. Pilot hasn't produced a murex since the early 80s, and they have become very difficult to find these days. If you want one of these, you'd better get one while they still can be found. Regarding scratches on stainless steel pens, i don't think i have ever seen a myu or murex that did not have at least some light scratches, not even pens that had been sealed in their original sleeves in perfect mint condition. Soem scratches are inevitable because the steel clutch spring inside the cap comes in contact with the body. The brushed steel is by definition a network of tiny scratches so this ought not to be an issue. These epns were made to take scratches with grace. As yuo use the pen, new scratches will inevitably come and will blend in with the finish in time. This process of polishing by use will make the pen more shiny. If you are the type of person who demands a flawless pen, and cannot stand scratches and are likely to complain about them, please do not buy a myu or murex - or any older japanese pen for that matter since they all have that steel clutch spring inside the cap. It will only cause problems for you and the seller. Length capped 5 1/4 inches (13.3 centimeters). Length posted 5 5/8 inches (14.9 centimeters). This pen takes standard pilot / namiki ink cartridges or an ink converter for those who prefer bottled ink. I will include an ink cartridge with this pen.
